Hello It's me Simo!

Simo Hakki is a percussionist, singer, visual artist, and director of photography, born in Afrin in 1994. With a career that began in the culturally vibrant city of Aleppo, Syria, in 2006, Simo has developed a distinctive style that seamlessly blends traditional Middle Eastern music with contemporary influences.

Simo's musical Journey began early training in Aleppo laid the foundation for his expertise in both singing and percussion. He quickly established himself as a versatile performer, known for his ability to evoke deep emotions through his music.

His performances in Aleppo from 2008 to 2011 were instrumental in shaping his career, as they exposed him to diverse musical styles and allowed him to collaborate with other skilled artists.

A highlight of Simo's musical career has been his collaboration with the renowned qanun player Göksel Baktagir. Their work together has not only been well-received by audiences but also praised by critics for its innovation and technical excellence. This collaboration has solidified Simo's reputation as a leading figure in the world of Middle Eastern music.

In addition to his musical talents, Simo is a dedicated visual artist and director of photography, currently pursuing formal studies in fine arts. His visual work is characterized by a deep understanding of cultural narratives and a commitment to exploring the intersections between tradition and modernity. Simo's approach to art is deeply rooted in his cultural heritage, yet it is also forward-thinking, reflecting his desire to push boundaries and challenge conventional norms.

Simo has an extensive background in live performance, having played on stages across Syria and Turkey. His work in Turkey has expanded his audience and allowed him to further refine his craft, incorporating new elements and influences into his music and visual art. He has also been active in the studio, where he has recorded numerous percussion tracks that showcase his technical skill and creative vision.
